How do I use WhatsApp on Hotmart?

Hotmart offers a free solution for using WhatsApp in abandoned cart recovery automations. This feature works through Hotmart Send, a tool that allows you to access and organize leads and customer contacts, as well as communicate with them through WhatsApp.

In addition to the free option, some users may see features related to the Premium version of the WhatsApp integration, which offered more complete automation and support features. However, new subscriptions to the Premium version are no longer available. To expand your use of WhatsApp and access communication features for leads and customers, you need to subscribe to Hotmart Send.

In this article, you’ll learn about the available options for using WhatsApp on Hotmart, how to access the tool, how to set up automations, and how to track the results of sent messages.
 

What is the WhatsApp integration with Hotmart?

The WhatsApp integration with Hotmart allows you to use WhatsApp as a communication channel with potential and current customers. Depending on the solution available in your account, you can recover abandoned carts, send automatic messages, organize contacts, and track results.

With the available features, you can:

  • recover abandoned carts with automatic messages;
  • organize leads and customer contacts;
  • track contacts captured through forms;
  • create automations for specific events;
  • view results for sent messages, delivered messages, and recovered sales.
     

What are the options for using WhatsApp on Hotmart?

There are currently two options related to using WhatsApp on Hotmart: the free version for abandoned cart recovery and the communication features available through Hotmart Send.

Free with abandoned cart recovery

In the free version, Hotmart provides an abandoned cart automation using Hotmart’s own number. This means that when a potential customer starts a purchase but does not complete the payment, they may receive a recovery message through WhatsApp.

This solution is available in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. If you have a Hotmart account and sell your products through the platform, you can use this feature without linking an exclusive number or making advanced settings.

The free model is enabled automatically for all products registered on Hotmart, as long as:

  • the Producer responsible for the product is from Brazil, Colombia, or Mexico;
  • the Producer does not have a Premium plan for the WhatsApp integration on Hotmart;
  • the product does not have an active abandoned cart automation in other solutions, such as Automatic Contact Management (ListBoss), Webhook, or the WhatsApp integration itself.

When these conditions are met, no action is needed to activate the automation. Hotmart automatically sends the recovery message when cart abandonment occurs.

If you no longer want to use the free version, access the Automations tool and disable the active automation.

If you want to manually activate the free abandoned cart automation, follow these steps:

  1. In the side menu of your Hotmart account, click Tools.
  2. Click Show all.
  3. Select Automations.
  4. Click Create new automation.
  5. Select the desired product.
  6. Choose the Cart Abandoned event.
  7. Complete the requested information.
  8. Activate the automation.

Hotmart Send

Hotmart Send is the recommended tool for those who want to organize leads and customer contacts and communicate with them through WhatsApp.

When accessing the WhatsApp tool, you can view captured contacts, track options such as Talk to your customers, Sell to new contacts, and Recover sales, and create capture pages to start gathering interested contacts.

To access the WhatsApp area, follow these steps:

  1. In the side menu of your Hotmart account, click Tools.
  2. Click See all.
  3. Select WhatsApp.

On this screen, you’ll be able to view the options available to talk to customers, sell to new contacts, or recover sales. If there are no contacts captured through forms yet, the platform will display a message informing you that data will be shown when contacts are available.

How do I create an automation to send messages through WhatsApp?

Automations allow you to send messages related to specific events, such as abandoned cart. When you click Create new automation, you’ll be directed to a step-by-step configuration screen.

To set up an automation, follow these steps:

  1. In the side menu of your Hotmart account, click Tools.
  2. Click Show all.
  3. Select Automations.
  4. Click Create new automation.
  5. Under Product, select the product where the automation will be configured.
  6. Under Event, choose the action that will trigger the automation. For cart recovery, select Cart Abandoned.
  7. Under Send a message, fill in the customizable fields, such as Producer name, email or phone number for WhatsApp conversation, and payment link, when available.
  8. Check the message preview displayed on the side of the screen.
  9. Under Name the automation, enter a name to identify this setting.
  10. Click Activate Automation.

For the automation to work correctly, the phone request on the payment page must be enabled.
 

How do I track WhatsApp automations?

On the Automations screen, you can track the automations configured for your products. The platform displays information such as automation name, sent messages, delivered messages, product, event, and available actions.

To access this screen:

  1. In the side menu of your Hotmart account, click Tools.
  2. Click Show all.
  3. Select Automations.

In this area, you’ll be able to view the automations already created, enable or disable an automation, and access the details of each one.
 

How do I track the results of recovered abandoned carts?

To view the results of an abandoned cart automation, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Automations tool.
  2. Find the automation you want to analyze.
  3. Confirm that the automation event is Cart Abandoned.
  4. In the Actions column, click Details.

When you click Details, you’ll be directed to a screen with the main automation results. There, you can track:

  • Recovered amount: gross amount earned so far from abandoned cart recovery, without discounts for possible commissions or Hotmart fees.
  • Recovered sales: number of sales recovered so far through the automation.
  • Messages: number of messages sent and delivered.
  • Conversion: relationship between delivered messages and recovered sales.
  • History: area where you can search records by name or email.

You can also select the currency to view the recovered amount, such as Brazilian real, US dollar, euro, or pound sterling. Only the recovered amount varies according to the selected currency; the other fields remain the same.
 

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to use a new SIM card for the integration?

The free cart recovery version uses Hotmart’s own number, so you do not need to register an exclusive number.

For features that require integration with your own number, the number must be new, must never have been used on WhatsApp, and must be exclusive to the business.

Does my phone need to stay on?

In the free cart recovery version, you do not need to keep a phone on, since the message is sent through Hotmart’s number.

For integrations with your own number, after the setup is active, usage happens through the Hotmart platform, without needing to keep the SIM card in a phone or the device on.

Can I use WhatsApp Web with the integration active?

For integrations with your own number, no. After the number is linked to Hotmart, messages must be sent, received, and read through the platform. If the SIM card is inserted into a phone and WhatsApp is installed, the Hotmart setup may be lost.

Can my sales team reply to messages without accessing my Hotmart account?

Yes, when the collaborator feature is available. When you invite collaborators, they can access only the integration and answer questions without logging in to your Hotmart account.

Can I change the registered phone number?

Yes, when there is a personal number linked to the integration. To change the number, you need to delete the current number and add a new one.

To do this:
1. Access the WhatsApp tool.
2. Go to the Numbers tab.
3. Click Delete number.
4. Follow the instructions shown on the screen.
5. After deletion, add the new number.

How many numbers can I register in the integration?

When there is an integration with your own number, you can register only one phone number.

What is my message limit?

In the free version, messages are related to the abandoned cart recovery automation.

In plans with advanced features, messages may be unlimited within the same conversation, but each plan may have a specific number of conversations. In addition, WhatsApp Business applies its own quality rules and daily sending limits.

What is the difference between a conversation and a message?

A conversation is the support session considered within a 24-hour period. It can start when the customer sends a message or when an automation is sent by the Producer. Messages are the sends made within that conversation.

Within the same conversation, several messages can be sent. A new conversation may be counted if there is a new send after the 24-hour period.

How do I change the WhatsApp Business display picture?

For accounts with a personal number linked, follow these steps:

1. Access the WhatsApp tool.
2. Go to the Numbers tab.
3. Click Edit photo.
4. Choose the desired image.
5. Save the change.
