Why was my product not approved for sale?

To ensure a safe and high-quality experience on the Hotmart platform, we carefully review all products before they're made available for sale. This process checks if your product's content and sales page comply with our Terms of Use and if all information is complete and accurate.

If you've submitted a product and the checkout page is still inaccessible, it means we've found some issues during our review. If these issues can be resolved, you'll receive an email detailing the necessary adjustments, and you'll see a notification on your product dashboard.

You can review the pending adjustments for your product by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com/
  2. On the left-hand side menu, click on Products and then My products.
  3. Select the product with the Pending adjustments notification.
  4. Once selected, you'll be redirected to your Product dashboard, where you can see the specific issues and instructions on how to solve them.

In this article, we'll list the most common reasons why a product might not be approved and how you can address them when you receive a notification.

1. Compliance with Terms of Use

❯  Product in violation of Terms of Use or Responsible Use Policy

This may indicate that your content doesn't comply with our General Responsible Use Policy or includes topics or practices that violate our Terms of Use. Below is a list of prohibited topics according to our terms:

  • Products reselling accounts for streaming service subscriptions or teaching how to bypass paid subscription systems.
  • Products containing pornographic material, especially explicit content, obscenity, nudity, or sexual acts.
  • Products containing OEM, NFR, copy, or backup software or designed to hack electronic devices.
  • Products promising success in lotteries or gambling, as well as any activity or practice that relies primarily or majorly on luck for results (e.g., betting, gambling, lotteries, stock trading).
  • Products engaging in any unsolicited, massive, repetitive, spam, flooding, adware, malware, or other harmful advertising, information gathering, or publicity practices.
  • Products whose primary content is raffles, donations, and/or charity, including promises of support, value reversals, or donations to charities, NGOs, or individuals.
  • Products that allude to or promote the illegal use of firearms, narcotics, toxic substances, or any type of illegal drug, as well as any illicit substance or whose consumption is legally dependent on a medical prescription or authorization from a competent authority.
  • Products promoting pyramid schemes or similar schemes that rely primarily on financial contributions from new participants to compensate previous participants.
  • Products whose content promotes speech intended to dehumanize, degrade, intimidate, or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes based on characteristics such as race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, nationality, mental condition, medical condition, or physical condition. It is also prohibited to publish or market on the platform any product whose content directs statements or treatments to someone with these same intentions.

How to adjust: Review your content, product description, and sales pages and remove any topics that may violate the Terms of Use or the Responsible Use Policy. Once you've corrected the information, finish the registration again.

2. Content and Copyright

Content may be found for free

This indicates that we've found that your product's content, or part of it, is available for free online.

How to adjust: Remove the content that can be found for free or modify it to be exclusive to your buyers. Once you've made the adjustments and updated your product content, go to your Product Dashboard and click Finish registration.

Product with Resale Rights (PLR)

Products with resale rights (PLR) require explicit authorization to be sold. It's important that when registering a "Private Label Rights" (PLR) product, you have the right to resell it and can provide proof.

How to adjust: Add documentation proving the right to resell, including the original producer's name, your name as the reseller, the product description, authorization for use, and identification that it's a PLR product. This documentation should be included with the product.

Proof of Authorship, Intellectual Property, Copyright, and Image Rights

Products using third-party materials, such as logos or content from other authors, must have the necessary permissions. If you've received a notification of this type, it may indicate that the author's name was not added to the content and/or that the content you provided contains materials that require authorization for use.

How to adjust: Include the author's name in the material and/or send a video or supporting documents, such as intellectual property registrations or contracts indicating your authorship or authorization to use third-party materials.

To submit documents, click Contact us at the end of this article, select I'm a creator, then select the contact reason Product registration, and finally select I need help registering my product. Fill in your account information and attach the supporting documents and videos. If you do not have authorization to use the materials, third-party materials must be removed.

3. Incomplete Content

Content not added to Members Area

This indicates that your Members Area is either empty or lacks the content promised in your product description.

How to adjust: Add at least one complete lesson to your Members Area that aligns with your product's title and description. If you plan to release content gradually, create a module in your Members Area with a schedule outlining the release dates for each lesson. Additionally, provide at least one complete lesson beyond a simple welcome video. After making these adjustments, go to your Product dashboard and click Finish registration.

Incomplete or missing content (referring to files)

Products with downloadable files, such as ebooks, must provide the complete content at the time of purchase. If you've received a notification about missing files, it means we've identified this issue.

How to adjust: On the left-hand side menu of your account, click Products and select the product with pending issues. Once there, go to the Product content tab and upload all necessary files so that buyers have immediate and complete access.

4. Content Quality and Relevance

Content is not related to the product

This indicates that the content in your Members Area doesn't align with what's promised on your sales page.

How to adjust: Review your content and ensure it directly relates to your product description. Make any necessary adjustments and confirm that the content complies with our Terms of Use and Responsible Use Policy. Once you've updated your content, go to your Product dashboard and click Finish registration.

Generic or AI-Generated content

It means that your content is too superficial and doesn't provide the depth promised in your product description. It might also indicate that your content, or parts of it, wasn't created organically.

How to adjust: Review your content and use this as an opportunity to provide more in-depth information, offering greater value to your buyers. If you've used AI-generated content, revise it by adding more detailed explanations, practical examples, case studies, or any other way to make your content richer and more comprehensive. Once you've made these adjustments, go to your Product dashboard and click Finish registration.

5. Incorrect Configuration

❯  Incorrect product configuration

Hotmart offers various product types, each requiring specific settings during registration. If you've received a notification about incorrect configuration, it means the registration process wasn't completed correctly or the settings don't match the chosen product type.

How to adjust: Review our article on product registration and verify the ideal settings for the selected product type. Follow the guidelines to adjust the necessary settings and complete the registration correctly to prevent future issues.

6. Promise of Results

Promising financial, health, or wellness results

It means there are sections in your product that promise specific results, such as monetary gains or improvements in health and wellness. Hotmart has strict guidelines regarding such claims, and they don't align with our Terms of Use and Responsible Use Policy. Products targeting the general public and focused on health and wellness should avoid promising specific outcomes like weight loss or the effects of cosmetics and medications that could alter bodily functions.

How to adjust: Review your product description, sales page, and materials to adjust any information that guarantees specific results. Ensure all claims align with our Terms of Use and Responsible Use Policy, avoiding promises that could be interpreted as guarantees of financial or health success. Once you've made these adjustments, go to your Product dashboard and click Finish registration.
