What are the reasons why my Hotmart payment account could be closed?

Your Hotmart payment account is opened as soon as you make your first sale. Unlike the bank account you register to make withdrawals, the payment account (SCD) safely holds your earnings in Brazilian Real (BRL) under the regulation of the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen).

In this article, we explain in detail the situations and reasons that can lead to the closure of this payment account, whether initiated by you or by Hotmart.

When can Hotmart close the account?

As outlined in Hotmart's General Payment Policy, Hotmart may close a payment account in certain scenarios, such as:

  • Inactivity (12 months): When the account remains without new logins for 6 months and/or without recording new sales (as a creator or affiliate) for 12 months or more.
  • Tax residence change: When the creator or affiliate holding the account in Reais (BRL) no longer resides in Brazil.
  • Registration irregularities: Suspension, cancellation, or blocks on the registered document (CPF/CNPJ) reported by the Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal), or inconsistencies in the information provided.

If your account is closed by Hotmart (such as in cases of inactivity), you will receive advance notice at the email address registered on the platform.

Important: The payment account is different from your Hotmart platform account. Even if the payment account is closed, you can continue using your platform account normally.

Can I request the closure of my payment account?

Yes. Account closure can be requested by the user at any time. However, for the closure to take effect, your account must not have any pending issues.

You must ensure that:

  • There are no pending financial obligations, processing transactions, open refunds, or negative balances.
  • There are no registration inconsistencies or ongoing disputes.

Tip: To prevent the account from automatically reopening right after being closed, it is essential that you deactivate your products (if you are a creator) and cancel your affiliations (if you are an affiliate). Since a payment account is automatically created upon your first sale, any new conversion will cause the system to open a new account with Bacen linked to your profile.

How do I withdraw my balance if the account was closed?

If your payment account was closed due to inactivity but you still have a balance to receive, rest assured. Your money remains safe; only the automatic withdrawal button will be disabled. To retrieve your funds, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Hotmart platform and go to My Account Financial Details.
  2. Make sure you have an approved bank account in your name registered (the approval process can take up to 5 business days).
  3. Once your bank account is approved, open a ticket with our support team using the Contact us button at the end of this article.
  4. State that you want to transfer the balance from your closed SCD account.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I start selling again, do I need to open a new account manually?

No. If the account was closed due to inactivity (or even voluntarily) and you make a new sale using your links, a new BRL account will automatically be generated by our system.

How do I know if my account is in good standing with the Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal)?

If you notice a withdrawal block, check the status of your CPF or CNPJ directly on the official Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) website.
