How do I set up Tutor in my Club?

Tutor was designed to act as an intelligent guide within your membership area. It supports your students throughout their learning journey 24/7, answering questions in real time and providing continuous assistance.

In this article, you'll learn how Hotmart Tutor works, the requirements to use it, how to activate it step by step, and how to customize the assistant's identity to match your brand.
 

What is Tutor?

Hotmart Tutor is a virtual assistant feature built directly into Hotmart Club. Unlike open AI tools, Tutor operates in a secure, closed environment. It is trained exclusively with the content you provide in your course (video audio and complementary text files). This ensures that the AI does not search for external information on the internet beyond the original methodology you created.

Students interact with Tutor through a dedicated chat, which opens when they click the "Ask questions" button located at the top of the lesson list inside the classroom.

Tutor is also fully multilingual. It processes materials in their original language (Portuguese, Spanish, or English) and automatically responds in the same language the student uses to ask their question in the chat.

 

What do I need to use this feature?

For the Tutor settings option to be available in your dashboard, your product must meet both of the following technical requirements:

  • Hosted on Hotmart Club: Your course must be active and delivered through Hotmart's membership area. Tutor is not compatible with external membership platforms or environments.
  • Using Hotmart Player: All video content must be hosted on Hotmart's streaming service. Tutor relies on audio transcripts generated directly by Hotmart Player to build its knowledge base. As a result, videos hosted on third-party players (such as Vimeo or YouTube) are not supported and prevent the feature from being activated.
Tutor is available at no additional cost to all content creators who meet these requirements, from beginners to large-scale creators.

 

How to activate Tutor

Activating and managing Tutor is simple and can be done directly from your Club dashboard. Because the AI works independently for each course, you must activate it separately for every course, even if you have multiple products in the same membership area.

To set up Tutor for your course, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Hotmart account at: https://app.hotmart.com.
  2. From the left-hand menu, click Products and select Membership Area.
  3. Select the membership area you want to configure.
  4. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.
  5. Under Settings, select Tools.
  6. Find Tutor and click Edit.
  7. A list of eligible courses will be displayed. You can enable or disable Tutor for each course at any time.

After activation, the system begins an automated process to read your video transcripts and index your lesson texts. This initial learning process can take up to 24 hours to complete. Once it finishes, the chat becomes automatically available to students enrolled in that specific course.

If you publish a new video lesson in Hotmart Player later, Tutor will automatically detect the update and incorporate the new content into its knowledge base within the next 24 hours. No manual reconfiguration is required.

 

How to add extra content to Tutor?

In addition to learning from your video lessons, you can further train Tutor by uploading supplementary text materials. This helps improve the accuracy of its responses and fill potential knowledge gaps. This feature is ideal for providing frequently asked questions (FAQs), technical glossaries, theoretical summaries, or supporting materials.

You can upload these files from the same Tutor management screen by clicking Add extra content after activating the feature. The system accepts .txt, .pdf, and .docx files, with a maximum file size of 30 MB per file.

 

Visual and Brand Customization

Tutor offers customization options to make the chat experience even more aligned with your brand.

On the Tutor settings page, click the Customize button in the upper-right corner to configure the following elements:

  • Assistant name: You can replace the default name "Tutor" with a custom name of your choice (such as your own name, the name of a character, or the name of a virtual assistant from your team). The name can be up to 16 characters long. Please note that this change is global: the name you choose will be applied consistently across all courses using Tutor within the same Club.
  • Avatar image: You can upload a custom profile image that will appear in students' chat conversations. The image must meet the following technical requirements: JPEG or PNG format, 512 × 512 px dimensions, and a maximum file size of 2 MB.

 

How can I track Tutor metrics and student interactions?

Every interaction between students and Tutor generates valuable insights into your audience's behavior, challenges, and most common questions. To review Tutor's responses and gain actionable business insights, you can access the complete conversation history.

From the Hotmart Club left-hand navigation menu, go to Insights and select the Tutor tab. In this panel, you can filter results by course and choose the time period you want to analyze.

The report displays the product name, the exact date of each interaction, the student's question, and the response generated by the AI. To analyze the data offline or keep a local copy, click Export all. A spreadsheet containing the complete interaction history will be sent to the email address registered with your account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tutor reply to students in lesson comments or community discussions?

No. Tutor only works through the private chat that opens when a student clicks the dedicated button on a lesson page. It does not monitor, read, or respond to lesson comments or community discussion forums.

Can Tutor issue certificates or check the status of an overdue payment?

No. For security and privacy reasons, Tutor does not have access to users' personal, registration, or transactional data.

I activated Tutor for my course, but the chat still isn't available for my students. What should I do?

The system needs up to 24 hours to process all media files and index the lesson content before Tutor becomes available. If the status on the settings page remains "Learning" for more than 48 hours, we recommend contacting Hotmart Support so our team can investigate the issue.

If a student purchased only one of my courses in a Club with multiple products, will Tutor use information from my other courses to answer their questions?

No. Tutor strictly respects each user's access permissions. For example, if your Club contains three active courses (A, B, and C) and a student is enrolled only in Course A, Tutor will answer questions using only Course A's knowledge base. Information and files from Courses B and C will not be used.

Can I use Tutor if my videos are embedded from external platforms such as Vimeo or YouTube?

No. Tutor requires your course to be hosted in Hotmart Club and your videos to use Hotmart Player. The AI builds its knowledge base by processing audio through Hotmart's native player, so it cannot process videos hosted on external platforms.

Can my team members access Tutor Insights and activate the feature?

Yes! If you have collaborators, make sure their profiles have the Manage Tutor and Settings and Customization permissions enabled in the Collaborators Center. These permissions allow your team to activate Tutor and access the visual reports in the dashboard.
