How to sell with Klarna on Hotmart?

Klarna is a Buy Now, Pay Later payment method already integrated into Hotmart’s checkout, available for buyers in certain European countries and in the United States.

This payment option lets the buyer complete a purchase immediately and pay later — either in full at a future date or in installments — depending on the options Klarna offers in their country.

In this article, you’ll learn more about how Klarna works, the benefits it can bring you as a creator, and the payment options and limits by country.

How does Klarna work?

Klarna is a global leader in the Buy Now, Pay Later model and is used by millions of people to make online shopping easier, especially for higher-value purchases.

On Hotmart, Klarna is automatically available for digital products sold with a one-time payment. It will appear at checkout whenever the buyer is in a country where Klarna is supported and the purchase amount is within the local limits.

When a buyer chooses Klarna at checkout, they’re redirected to Klarna’s secure interface. There, they enter personal information, confirm their identity, and choose their preferred payment option — whether to pay later, split into a few installments, or finance over a longer period. Approval is instant, and the sale is completed right away.

For the buyer, Klarna handles billing and payment management. For you as the creator, the process is seamless: you receive the sale amount directly from Hotmart within the standard payout period, regardless of when or how the buyer pays Klarna.

What are the benefits of selling with Klarna?

One major advantage is that Klarna can boost your sales conversion rates, especially for higher-ticket offers, since buyers have more flexibility to pay. Another important point is that there’s no extra cost for you as the creator: Klarna takes care of payment processing, credit checks, and collections — and also assumes the risk of buyer default.

Your payout flow stays the same: you’ll usually receive the full sale amount 15 days after the purchase (D+15).

Where is Klarna available and what are the purchase limits?

Klarna is available for buyers in the United States and in various European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, and more.

Payment options vary by country and Klarna’s own credit assessment at the time of purchase. Generally, they can include:

Pay over time: installment payments

  • 3 monthly installments: available in various countries.
  • 4 installments: available only for buyers in the United States.
  • Long-term financing: monthly installments over a longer period, with interest rates up to 7.99% per year, available in select countries.

Pay later in full

  • Pay in 30 days: the buyer pays the total amount within 30 days of purchase.

It’s important to note that Klarna automatically decides which options to display for each buyer based on their location and individual credit eligibility. This means not all payment methods will be available to all buyers, and each one will only see the options relevant to them.

In addition, each country has its own minimum and maximum amount limits for each payment option, which you can check in the table below:
