Many students who take online courses want a certificate to confirm their completion. To simplify this process, Hotmart offers a tool that automates certificate issuance. With this feature, your students can generate their own certificates as soon as they complete the course, saving you the effort of sending them manually.
Before you begin, it’s important to note that there’s an ideal resolution for the certificate background image, which we’ll cover later in this article.
❯ To set up a certificate for your course, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com.
- In the upper right corner, click the nine-dot menu and select Hotmart Club.
- Choose the members area for the course you want to set up.
- On the members area page, click on Products in the left-side menu and select the desired product.
- Go to the Certificate tab and enable the certificate issuance option.
- Fill in the necessary information and click Save.
Once the certificate is set up, your students will be able to download it directly from the course page after completing all the required modules.
❯ Important information:
- Use the Background Image button to add a custom image for the certificate.
- Under Tags, you can set up data to automatically appear on the certificate, such as: student name, course name, completion date, organizer, class, and a QR Code.
- The QR Code on the certificate serves as an authentication method and can be scanned to verify its authenticity. Depending on the course setup, the QR Code may redirect to a responsive Hotmart page or to the course creator’s page if the course is linked to a Hotmart Club.
When will the certificate be available to students?
Students can only issue the certificate after completing 100% of the mandatory classes, including content lessons and quizzes with a minimum score. Remember, classes in extra modules, free modules, announcements, and live sessions are not considered mandatory for issuing the certificate.
If a student has any incomplete expired classes, this will prevent the certificate from being issued. Therefore, it’s important to review the expiration settings for each piece of content to avoid any issues.
Image resolution for the certificate background
To ensure your certificate background image is of high quality, it’s crucial to consider the resolution in pixels and DPI (dots per inch). You can use a pixel calculator (many free options are available online) to help with this.
Here’s how to achieve the best resolution for an A4 sheet, which is the standard for printing certificates:
- Choose the paper size: the dimensions in millimeters are important for the calculation.
- Set the DPI: the higher the DPI, the better the image quality. The standard for printing is 300 DPI, but using 600 DPI will give you an even sharper image.
- Calculate the resolution: once you’ve set these parameters, use a calculation tool to find the ideal resolution for your background image.
