How to set up a certificate for my course?

Issuing a course completion certificate is an important milestone for both students and creators. To make this process easier, Hotmart offers a feature that automates certificate creation, allowing students to download their certificate as soon as they complete the course—no manual sending required.

In this article, you’ll learn how to set up and customize certificates for courses hosted on Hotmart Club.

❯ To set up a certificate for your course, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com.
2. In the left-hand menu, click on Products, then select Members area.
3. Choose the Members Area for the course you want to configure.
4. On the members area page, click on Products in the left-hand menu and select the course you want to customize.
5. Go to the Certificate tab and enable the certificate issuance option in the Publication section.
6. Complete the required information in the Customize certificate section:
   • Background image: If desired, upload an image with a resolution of 2480 x 3508 pixels (standard quality) or 4960 x 7016 pixels (high quality).
   • Text box: Click the “A” icon to add new text to the certificate layout.
   • Text formatting, color, and alignment: Select a text box and use formatting tools like bold, italic, font style, color, and text alignment.
   • Layers: Arrange elements by bringing a text box to the front or sending it to the back. This is useful for creating more complex certificate layouts.
   • Tags: Tags are pre-defined fields that automatically pull data for each student, such as their name, course name, and completion date. You don’t need to fill out these fields manually—they’re generated by the system when a student downloads the certificate.
7. To preview your certificate, click View certificate. Once you finish, click Save.

After you’ve set up the certificate, students can download it directly from the course page as soon as they complete all required modules.

❯ Important information: The QR Code on the certificate serves as an authentication method. Anyone can scan it to verify the certificate’s authenticity. Depending on your course settings, the QR Code can direct users to either a Hotmart responsive page or the creator’s course page in Hotmart Club.

❯ When will the certificate be available to students? Students can download the certificate only after completing 100% of the required classes, including content and quizzes with a minimum passing score. Extra or free modules, ads, and live sessions are not considered mandatory for certificate issuance. If a student has any expired classes they didn’t complete, it will block the certificate’s release. To avoid issues, make sure to review the expiration settings for all your content.

❯ The automatic certificate data isn’t generating. What should I do? If this happens, it may mean that one or more tags were removed from your certificate layout. To fix this, go to the Tags section in the customization settings, and look for any missing tags, such as the course name, student name, or completion date. When you find the missing tag, select it, and a new text box will automatically be created for it. Once you’ve customized the text, click Save to apply your changes.
