How to upload videos to Hotmart Player?

When creating your online course in Hotmart Club, you have three options to add videos to your lessons:

  1. Uploading files directly from your computer or mobile device.
  2. Importing videos from other platforms, such as Vimeo or Panda Videos, into your Video Library.
  3. Embedding videos hosted on other platforms, like YouTube or Vimeo.

It’s important to clarify the differences between importing and embedding a video. Below, we explain what each term means:

  • Video importing involves uploading the file directly to the platform, placing the video into your Video Library.
  • Video embedding is when you add a video from another platform (like YouTube or Vimeo) to your content by using a link or embed code, without needing to upload the file. If you have any questions about embedding videos, check out this article for more information.

In this article, we’ll explain how to upload videos directly from your device using Hotmart Player, Hotmart’s exclusive streaming service. Additionally, you will learn how to import videos from other platforms into your Video Library.

If you’re new to Hotmart Player, we recommend reading this article to learn about all its features and how to set it up in your products. By activating Hotmart Player, you’ll gain access to the Video Library, a tool that centralizes and organizes all your video content, making management and uploads much more efficient. How to import videos from other platforms to my Video Library?

In addition to uploading videos directly from your device to Hotmart’s video library, you also have the option to automatically import videos hosted on other platforms, such as Vimeo and Panda Video. This process not only simplifies the workflow but also optimizes organization, as folders, video names, and configured subtitles will also be imported into the library. To import your videos, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your Hotmart account through the link https://app.hotmart.com/login.
  2. In the left-side menu, click on Tools and then Show all.
  3. Locate the Video Library (Hotmart Player) option. If you prefer, you can also access it directly through the link https://play.hotmart.com/.
  4. Click on the blue icon with the + symbol to upload new videos and select New load.
  5. On the upload screen, select Import from Vimeo or Import from Panda Video, depending on your preference. The import options from YouTube and Google Drive are still under development.

After following the steps above, you will need to generate a token code directly on the video platforms, Vimeo or Panda Video, to complete the import. To do this, open a new tab in your browser and follow the steps outlined below, depending on the platform you choose:

If you are importing videos from Vimeo, click here to learn how to generate the token for importing

To generate a token code on the Vimeo platform, your account must be Standard or a higher plan. It’s important to note that only the account owner can generate the token, and tokens created by collaborators do not allow video imports to Hotmart.

To create the token, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Vimeo account via this link https://developer.vimeo.com/apps.
  2. Select an existing app or create a new one by clicking the blue Create an app button in the upper-right corner. When creating a new app, fill in the name and description fields, and select the option No. The only Vimeo accounts that will have access to the app are my own. Finally, click Create App.
  3. Within the selected app, locate the Authentication section and set the following options: Authenticated (you), Public (required), Private, and Video files as shown in the image below. To confirm, click Generate.
  4. Once you click Generate, a token code composed of letters and numbers will be generated.
  5. Copy the token code and return to the Hotmart Player screen. Paste the token into the API key field and click Start importing.

After confirming the import, you can track its progress using the blue bar below the file name. Once the upload is complete, the video will go through an optimization process that automatically adjusts the resolution and format to ensure the best quality and delivery speed for your students. You’ll know the upload is complete and the video is being processed when the blue progress bar changes to a gray loading icon next to the file name.

When the process is finished, a green check icon will appear, indicating that the optimization was successfully completed. At that point, the video will be integrated into your Video Library and ready to be added to your products.

  3. Then, select the Advanced option.
  4. In the API key section, click the Generate new API key button to generate your token.
  5. Copy the token code and return to the Hotmart Player screen. Paste the token into the API key field and click Start importing.

Frequently asked questions

I think my video upload is frozen. What should I do?

If you think your video upload is frozen, it’s important to know that the process happens in two stages:

  1. File upload: During this phase, you can track the progress using the blue bar below the file name.
  2. Optimization process: This stage begins right after the upload is completed. You’ll know the upload is finished, and the video is being processed when the blue bar is replaced by a gray loading icon next to the file name.

The optimization time can vary depending on the size and number of files, as well as your connection speed. Because of this, it might seem like the process is frozen or stuck.

If the upload seems stuck during the blue bar phase, we recommend checking your internet connection. However, if it happens in the next phase, when the gray loading icon appears, there’s no need to worry.

During the optimization process, you don’t need to keep the upload screen open or stay connected. The processing will continue in the background, and once it’s done, the video will be added to your Video Library, ready to be included in your products.

If my internet disconnects during an upload, will I lose the progress?

If your internet connection drops while the upload is in progress—meaning while the blue bar is moving—the upload will be interrupted. However, if the connection drops during the optimization process, it won’t affect the upload.
