The domain is a unique name that can locate and identify a website on the web.
In this article, you will learn how to set up a domain in the Hotmart Extensions Page Creator tool.
Important: This step-by-step is intended for users who don’t have DNS settings in their domain panel. If you have set it up already, please contact our Customer Support first.
How to find the DNS panel
The first step in having your own domain is to check the availability of the name you want to use. This verification is done on websites that sell domains.
With the domain available, you need to configure it to use it on your pages and websites.
Important: the path to reach the DNS Zone changes with each domain service.
You need to configure DNS, including creating records. This step is essential to continue the domain configuration, ok? Let’s go!
How to set up the domain
- Follow the step-by-step of one of the links we indicated above, create two records in your domain's DNS zone settings. If you cannot find the DNS panel, contact the company of your domain.
DNS servers or domain name systems are responsible for locating and "translating" website addresses in browsers. Through the DNS, the internet pages are found.
For both records, we use the type CNAM.
In the first record, we point the domain without WWW to the address proxy.klickpages.com.br.
Important: the content of the first part of the record may vary depending on the domain service. In some, just leave it blank; in others, a @, period, or the domain itself without a WWW is used. If you cannot find the DNS panel, contact the company providing your domain.
- In the second record, we point the domain with WWW to the domain itself without WWW:
If the service you use does not allow you to create the main domain record as CNAME, you can use a type A entry instead, pointing to the IP: 188.8.131.52:
Why can't the same domain be used for two different sites at the same time?
It’s very important to remember that a domain cannot be used for two different websites at the same time.
It would be like using the same address for your home and mine, and we live in different locations.
There are a few alternatives if you already have a domain and use it elsewhere, but want to use it here as well. The easiest and most widely used is to create a subdomain.
What is a subdomain, and how to configure it?
The subdomain can be seen as an extension of a domain. For example, I have a website called john.com and also a blog.
For example: the blog address can be at blog.john.com. This term that comes before the domain name is the subdomain.
To configure a subdomain, simply create a single CNAME entry, with the desired name, pointing to proxy.klickpages.com.br
A single record is created because the WWW record is not used in the subdomain.
There is still the alternative of downloading the pages you made in Page Creator and uploading them to your current website's server.
This alternative can be interesting if you really need to use your domain on an external website, but you also want to use it on the pages you made in the Page Creator.
However, you need to have access and know how to navigate the configurations of the servers of your external website.
The path to creating the records for the domain or subdomain varies from platform to platform. You can contact the company from which you purchased your domain directly.
What should I do after setting up the domain?
After a domain is set up, the last step is to place it in your Page Creator account and select it from the chosen pages.
