How to configure Google Analytics when using a page with a different domain than hotmart.com (cross-domain)

In this article, you’ll learn how to configure Google Analytics when using a landing page or any type of page with a different domain than hotmart.com (cross-domain).

If you notice a duplicate number of unique users and/or a failure in assigning Google Ads campaigns, you may have a problem setting up Google Analytics. This can happen when your sales funnel has a landing page (capture page) with its own domain, i.e. different from hotmart.com.

To fix this, you need to keep the reference between pages by setting up cross-domain linking. Read on to understand how to configure with Google Tag Manager:

  1. In the Tags tab, click on New
  1. Click on Tag Configuration
  1. Select Conversion Linker
  1. Select Enable linking across domains and add the domain hotmart.com

Once this is done, when you click on a link on your site that takes you to Hotmart, you will be redirected to the URL with a parameter called: _ga

For example: https://pay.hotmart.com/XXXXXXXX?off=XXXXXX&checkoutMode=10&_ga=2.9548660.939523786.163156458-290247954.1593607042&bid=XXXXXXXX

  1. Add the Conversion Linker settings to your Google Analytics configuration variable. This variable must have an allowLinker field with the value true and Auto Link Domains configured with hotmart.com

That’s it! Now your conversion events will be tracked correctly by Google Analytics.
