How do I install the Facebook Pixel?

Pixel is a code provided by Facebook for you to add to your sales, checkout, and "thank you" pages. You can measure and optimize your paid traffic campaigns by tracking Pixel results.

When installing Pixel, you can track every action that takes place on your website. For example, you can track how many people are accessing your checkout page but are not making a purchase. This action is called an event.

How do I set up a Pixel in Facebook Events Manager?

  1. Log in to your Facebook Business account https://business.facebook.com/
  2. In the left side menu, click More Tools
  3. Click Events Manager
  4. Click the (+) symbol in the left side menu and choose Web data source
  5. Select Facebook Pixel and click Connect
  6. Enter the Pixel Name
  7. Enter your page URL to see the setup options
  8. Click Continue
  9. Select Configure Pixel Now
  10. Here, you will choose the option to add the Pixel code to the website manually. A Pixel code will be displayed. Copy that code.

Important:

  • After the Pixel code is created, you don't have to click continue; you can just close the window for now.
  • We always recommend pasting the Pixel code into your notes to avoid losing it.
  1. On the Pixel page, on the right side, you'll see the identification number. Each Pixel has an identification number (ID), which is why each Pixel is unique.
  1. Log in to the platform at https://app-vlc.hotmart.com/login
  1. In the upper right corner, click on the dots icon next to your profile picture
  1. A tab with the following options will open:
  • Page Creator
  • Email marketing
  • Webinar
  • Products
  • View All Tools
  1. Click on Page Creator
  1. Select Track your pages
  1. Select the page you want and click Edit below the pencil icon
  1. Click on the Settings symbol in the left side menu
  1. Select Scripts
  1. Choose the HEAD option and click on Add Script to Head
  1. Give your Pixel a name so you can identify it.
  1. Take the code you copied and paste it in the Script field

Important: check that there are no spaces at the beginning or the end of the code because extra spaces will lead to an error message, and the Pixel will not be saved.

  1. Click Add
  1. Pixel Base is now correctly configured on the page! To finish this step, click Publish
  1. Then, access your published page so that Facebook can validate the code.

Important: if you want Pixel to collect data from all your pages, you need to enter the code on each one of them.

  9. When you are finished setting the events, click Finish Setup.

Important:

  • You can edit or delete the event, if necessary

What changes with Apple's new iOS 14 policy

Due to updates in data security and privacy in iOS14, Facebook's Pixel event mapping has changed. In Apple's iOS 14, all users will have the choice to accept or decline having their data tracked by websites and applications (AppTrackingTransparency).

If the user chooses not to have their activity tracked, their actions will not be recorded by events, even if the pixel codes and events are installed correctly. This can impact the numbers presented by your Ad Manager. It's not possible to create a customized audience for those who have not accepted tracking.
