Hotmart Ask: what is it and how to set it up?

Knowing what your students think of your product is an excellent way to make it better and also to build student loyalty.

With that in mind, we created Hotmart Ask, a free satisfaction survey tool that you can activate for all of your products distributed by Hotmart or on an external page.

Through your customers’ evaluations, you will be able to understand how they feel about your product and also collect valuable testimonials for your business.

You have three possibilities with Ask:

  • If you are already a Hotmart Club user, you can enable a survey, with questions previously developed by Hotmart, for students who have completed at least 50% of the content of your course.
  • Another option is to use Ask to create a survey that will be displayed on an external page such as a website, blog or sales page, for example. In this case, you can customize everything, from the questions your users will answer to the answer format and thank you message.
  • If you sell an ebook or any other file format, a survey previously created by Hotmart will appear for your customers who access the purchasing center, at https://consumer.hotmart.com

We’ll talk about each of these in this article.

Hotmart Club: how to enable the survey within Hotmart’s Members Area 

As we said earlier, those who use Hotmart Club can enable a survey in just a few clicks.

This option offers several predefined questions such as "How would you rate the content presented?", "How would you rate the methodology?" or “How would you rate the course overall?”, for example.

Keep in mind that the survey is only available for students who complete at least 50% of the content of their course.

The survey results will appear on the Hotmart Ask home screen (in the steps below, you can learn more).

Here's how to set it up:

  1. Access your Hotmart account on the link: https://app-vlc.hotmart.com/login
  2. On the left side menu, choose Tools
  3. Click Hotmart Ask
  4. On the home screen, more specifically on the Reviews tab of your courses, you will see all your registered products on our platform and you will be able to enable buyer reviews and allow reviews to be shown on your product page
  5. In addition, on this screen you can also view survey responses by clicking View answers. In this screen, in addition to viewing the responses of the participants, you can also view various information such as:
  • Number of times it was shown: Number of times the survey appeared to your users, even if they didn’t click to start it.
  • Number of responses: Number of times your users answered at least one of the questions in your survey.
  • Engagement: percentage of people who saw your survey and answered at least one question. This calculation is done using the number of impressions and the number of responses.
  • Concluded: percentage of people who answered all survey questions.
  • Abandonment:  percentage of people who started to answer the survey and did not finish it.
  1. On this same screen, you can export the responses by clicking Export Answers  to generate a CSV file
  2. In the Surveys and questionnaires tab for your external pages, you will have access to the results of external surveys and also activate buyer evaluation
  3. By clicking on the New Survey button, you will be taken to a page to create an external  survey (we will talk more about the topic Creating external surveys!)

How students can respond a survey in Club 

When a satisfaction survey is enabled within the Hotmart Members Area, the user will have access to the questions after completing 50% of the course.

There are only 8 questions total. The user responds based on a scale of 1 to 5, and the last question is open for comments regarding the course.

External survey: how to create a survey on an external page 

The difference for a survey within Hotmart Club is that here it will be displayed on an external page, in addition to the possibility of customizing the fields.

You get the freedom to create the questions and choose from the different answer formats available, such as a scale from 1 to 10, emoticon, short or long text, predefined answers, among others.

It is also possible to choose which website URL the survey will be displayed on (to do this, install the tracking code, available on Ask itself, on the chosen pages), the period during which it will be available, on which device (computer, cell phone or tablet) and language.

To set up an external survey, follow the steps below:

  1. Access your Hotmart account on the link: https://app-vlc.hotmart.com/login
  2. On  the left side menu, choose Tools
  3. Click Hotmart Ask
  4. On the first screen, you can view two tabs: Course reviews and Surveys and questionnaires for your external pages
  5. You can create a new external survey in two ways:
  6. Clicking on the Surveys and questionnaires tab for your external pages and then on New Survey
  7. Or in the left side menu, where you will see three icons: My Surveys, Create New Survey and Tracking code
  8. Click Create New Survey (second icon) to create a new survey
  9. In the Content tab, fill in the name of the survey. Remember that it will be the name to identify it on the Hotmart platform, that is, it will not be published.
  10. Then, in First Steps, create an invite to start the survey. For example: Help us by evaluating our product!
  11. The next step is to create another CTA, this time to confirm that the user has accepted. For example: Sure!
  12. In Questions, you must write the question and choose the available answer formats: scale from 1 to 10 or from 1 to 5, emoticon, rating (stars), short or long text, pre-defined answers or email. Except in the form of predefined answers, it is possible to customize the text. 

- Scale from 1 to 10 or from 1 to 5: these are the numbers that the user selects to choose from irrelevant to very relevant, for example.

- Emoticon: works with a scale, except it uses emojis to represent the satisfaction index

- Rating: star rating. One star means minimum score and five stars maximum score

- Short text/Long text: you customize a text for the low and high ratings

- Predefined answers: allows you to create questions and add answer options in text form

- Email: the user answers the questions and fills in their email, which will be sent to the Producer

  1. Use the + Add another question button whenever you want
  2. After entering all the questions, use the Final Considerations field for a thank you message 
  3. Whenever you’re creating the survey, you’ll be able to preview it in the bottom right corner
  4. After it’s done, click Next
  5. On the next tab, Settings, you can choose the condition for your survey to be shown. For example, if you want it to appear on a specific page, select the condition Display if the URL starts with, enter the page address and click +
  6. Choose the period when the search will be available, if it will be in a specific period with start and end date and time.
  7. Or if for an indefinite period
  8. The next step is to select the devices on which the survey will be shown. They can be computer, cell phone and/or tablet
  9. Select the language and click Next
  10. The next Tracking Code tab will have the script for you to copy and paste into your sales, blog or capture pages. Remember that only with the code installed, you will be able to see your survey results
  11. Click Finish
  12. If you left the screen and would like to see the code again, click the third icon, called Tracking Code, in the menu located in the upper left corner

Within your own Product Page you can view the general rating of all evaluations and click on the reviews, as shown in the image below, or view more to check all the evaluations and filter by positive or negative reviews.
