How to set up the Hotmart Video Player?

The Hotmart Video Player is the platform’s native streaming service, designed to let you host and stream your content directly within Hotmart Club, without the need for third-party providers.

In this article, you'll learn how to enable the Video Player for your product, understand the streaming service fees, learn how file optimization works, and discover how to migrate to the Video Player directly from your Media Library.

How do I enable the Hotmart Video Player for my product?

To enable or disable the Video Player for a specific product, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Hotmart account at: https://app.hotmart.com/.
  2. From the left-hand menu, click Products and select My Products.
  3. Choose the product you want to configure and open the Membership Area tab.
  4. In the product menu, click Settings and go to the Integrations section.
  5. Locate the Hotmart Video Player option and switch the toggle to enable or disable it.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page to confirm the changes.

If you're migrating modules or lessons from an existing course to a new product, make sure to enable the Hotmart Video Player for the destination product before starting the import process. Otherwise, the imported media files won't display correctly for your students.

What fees do I need to pay to use the Hotmart Video Player?

Using Hotmart’s streaming service includes an activation fee for each approved sale. The fee is always charged in the commission currency. For example, if your commission is paid in USD, the fee will also be charged in USD.

The fee is calculated per approved sale of your product, regardless of how many videos or audio files you choose to host in your course. Here's how the fee is applied based on your product type:

Product type Video Player Activation fee amount
One-time payment or installment products A fixed fee of R$2.49 (or EUR/USD 1.49 for international sales) is charged for each approved transaction.
Subscription (Recurring) products

The fee varies between the buyer's first payment and the subsequent ones:

  • First payment (monthly or annual): R$2.49 or EUR/USD 1.49.
  • Starting with the second recurring payment: R$0.50 or EUR/USD 0.30 for each approved charge.
Products sold as bundles

The activation fee is doubled. In this case, the amount varies according to the types of products included in the bundle:

  • One-time payment products or the first payment of a subscription: BRL 4.99 or EUR/USD 2.98.
  • Subsequent recurring subscription payments: BRL 1.00 or EUR/USD 1.20.

How do I migrate videos hosted on other platforms?

If you already have a course hosted on external platforms such as Vimeo or Panda Video, you don't need to manually download each file to your computer before uploading it to Hotmart. The platform provides a built-in migration tool. To use it, follow these steps:

  1. Click the nine-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the Hotmart navigation bar and select Video Library.
  2. In the Library tab, click the button New + and then select New load.
  3. You'll find an integration option that allows you to connect your external account. The system will scan your digital files and let you select and import multiple videos directly into Hotmart's storage environment with just a few clicks, making your migration faster and easier.

How do I manage file uploads and video processing times?

Once you've enabled the streaming service, you can add media files directly to your lesson pages through the Hotmart Club content manager.

Publishing a video involves two stages: uploading the file and media optimization. The media optimization is an automatic rendering process that adapts your video to different internet speeds, ensuring your students can watch your lessons without buffering, whether they're using a computer or the mobile app.

This secondary processing starts as soon as the upload is complete and displays a processing status. Optimization time varies depending on the file size, resolution, and the number of media files currently in the server's processing queue. During this stage, you don't need to keep your browser open, as the system completes the process in the background.

Every uploaded video is automatically converted into multiple resolutions (such as 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, and 1080p) so it can dynamically adapt to each student's internet connection. The system does not artificially improve video quality. If the original file is uploaded in 720p, the generated versions will be limited to that maximum resolution. Files uploaded in 1080p require proportionally more processing because multiple adaptive versions are created.

For more information about the upload process, see this article.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a limit to the number of videos I can host in a course?

Yes. Each lesson in Hotmart Club supports up to 3 videos, and each individual file can be up to 20 GB in size.

Can I use the same video in different lessons without uploading it again?

Yes. Every uploaded file is stored centrally in your Video Library. When creating a new lesson, instead of uploading the file again from your computer, simply select an existing media file directly from your Library.

What happens if I change the thumbnail of a video that's used in more than one course?

Since the video is linked to a single file in the Library, it will keep the same thumbnail across all uses. If you update the thumbnail in one lesson or product, the change is automatically applied to every other lesson and course that uses that same video.

Why aren't the videos loading in the lessons I imported from another course?

This issue occurs when you import modules into a new product that still has the Hotmart Video Player disabled. To fix it, open the Integrations settings for the new product, enable the Video Player, and run the import process again.
