How to integrate an external platform with Hotmart Send via Webhook?

Hotmart Send allows you to centralize the management of your leads and email marketing campaigns in one place. Additionally, you can integrate Send with external platforms, automating the sending and receiving of data between systems.

In this article, you’ll understand what a Webhook integration is, when it makes sense to use it in Hotmart Send, and how to set it up step by step—both for sending data from Send to other platforms and for receiving external data into Hotmart Send.

What is a Webhook and how does it work?

A Webhook is a feature that enables the automatic exchange of information between platforms in real time. Instead of performing manual integrations, one system sends data to another whenever a specific event occurs.

In the context of Hotmart Send, this means you can, for example:

  • Automatically send leads captured in Send to another tool.
  • Receive leads generated on an external platform and manage them within Hotmart Send.

For the integration to work, the external platform must support Webhooks. If it doesn’t, you can use an intermediary tool such as Zapier, Make, or Pluga, which act as a bridge between systems.

What types of integration can I set up in Hotmart Send?

In Hotmart Send, Webhook integration can be done in two ways:

  • Send data: leads collected in Hotmart Send are sent to another platform based on specific events.
  • Receive data: leads generated on external platforms are sent to Hotmart Send and become part of your contact base.

Regardless of the type chosen, you need to configure the integration in Hotmart Send and adjust the settings on the connected platform.

Important: field names, formats, and requirements may vary depending on the external tool. Always check the documentation of the platform you are integrating with.

How to send data from Hotmart Send to another platform?

This type of integration is recommended when you want leads captured in Send to be automatically sent to another tool.

To configure it, follow the steps below:

  1. Access your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com/
  2. In the side menu, click Marketing and then Email Marketing.
  3. Inside Hotmart Send, click Settings in the left-hand menu and select Webhook integrations.
  4. On the next screen, click New integration and choose the option To send data.
  5. Give the integration a name (we recommend including the platform name to make organization easier).
  6. In Provider, choose:
    • ActiveCampaign, if this is the integrated platform (direct integration).
    • Webhook, for other tools. If the platform does not support Webhooks directly, use an intermediary tool.
  7. Paste the integration URL provided by the external platform or intermediary tool.
  8. Define the event that will trigger data sending, such as Lead capture or Tag.
  9. Read the data processing notice, check the confirmation box, and click Save.

How to receive data from other platforms in Hotmart Send?

This option is recommended when you want to bring leads generated outside the platform into Hotmart Send.

To configure it, follow these steps:

  1. Access your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com/
  2. In the side menu, click Marketing and then Email Marketing.
  3. Inside Hotmart Send, click Settings in the left-hand menu and select Webhook integrations.
  4. On the next screen, click New integration and choose the option To receive data.
  5. Give the integration a name (we recommend including the platform name to make organization easier).
  6. In the Assign to tag(s) field, choose which tags the received leads should have in Send.
    • You can also define tag removal, if necessary.
  7. Copy the link and token generated by Hotmart Send and complete the setup by pasting them into the external platform that will send the data.
  8. Confirm the configuration by clicking Save filters.

Important: the token must be included in the request body with the name hottok, exactly as generated by Hotmart Send. This field identifies and authorizes the data submission.

If the external platform does not allow defining the field name or requires a different format, you will need to use an intermediary tool to adjust the request.

How to test if the integration is working?

After completing the setup, it’s important to run a test. To do this, add a lead in the source platform (Hotmart Send or the external tool, depending on the integration type) and check whether it was correctly received in the destination platform.

This test helps confirm that events, links, and tokens were configured properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I integrate Hotmart Send with any external platform?

Yes, as long as the platform supports Webhook integration or can be connected through intermediary tools.

What is an intermediary tool and why do I need it?

Intermediary tools, such as Zapier, Make, or Pluga, facilitate communication between Hotmart Send and other platforms when there is no direct integration available. They act as a bridge, receiving data from one system and sending it to another.

Can I send and receive data using the same integration?

No. You need to create separate integrations: one to send data and another to receive data.

No. You need to create separate integrations: one to send data and another to receive data.

Yes. Data must be sent in JSON format, and the request body must include the fields email and hottok. Other data can be included, as long as it follows the standard used by Hotmart Send.

I set up the integration, but data is not being sent or received. What should I check?

If data is not being transmitted correctly between platforms, review the following:

  • Confirm that the integration link and, in the case of receiving data, the hottok field were correctly filled in on the source platform.
  • Run an integration test by adding a lead in the source tool (Hotmart Send or external platform, depending on the integration type) and checking if it reaches the destination.
  • Verify whether the configured event actually occurred, such as lead capture or tag assignment.
  • Check the external platform’s documentation, as field names, data formats, and other requirements may affect communication between systems.
  • Evaluate the need to use an intermediary tool, such as Zapier, Pluga, or Make, if the external platform does not support the required format.

If, after these checks, the integration still does not work, contact our support team. Provide details of the configuration performed, including the steps followed, the data used, and screenshots of the relevant screens. This information helps the team understand the scenario and offer more accurate guidance.
