What is the Hotmart Collection Agent and how does it work?

The Hotmart Collection Agent is a set of solutions and strategies designed to help you prevent default and recover overdue payments. It combines automation, artificial intelligence, and multichannel communication to ensure the buyer receives reminders and guidance throughout the payment lifecycle.

This article explains how the Collection Agent works, where it’s integrated, and how it can improve your results with less operational effort.

Which payment methods is it available for?

The Hotmart Collection Agent activates automatically when you use certain payment methods or tools. It applies in the following cases:

In other words, when you use these payment methods or tools you don’t have to worry about collections: Hotmart handles that part of the process.

 

How does the Hotmart Collection Agent activate?

The Collection Agent activates automatically whenever the Producer uses the payment methods and tools listed above.

If the creator already has an in-house collections team, that team can work alongside the Collection Agent to boost results.

 

How does the Collection Agent work?

The Collection Agent operates across these main areas:

Recovery journey

If an installment is due and not paid, the buyer receives:

  • Automated email communications
  • Personalized, courteous support via WhatsApp with AI assistance.*
  • Alerts while consuming content in Hotmart Club (soon!)
  • Notifications in the Hotmart App and in the “My Purchases” area (soon!)
  • Personalized, courteous support via WhatsApp with AI assistance through Alice

*The AI assistant has a phone number in Mexico for Spanish support and a U.S. number for English support.

 

Flexibility for the buyer

The buyer can access a payment management area where they can view all relevant information: amounts, due dates, and installment status. They can also:

  • Change the payment method (subject to conditions)
  • Request a new due date
  • Make partial payments on overdue installments
  • Bring their payments up to date using credit card or PayPal. For Latin American countries, we also offer the following payment methods: Yape, Nequi, PSE, OXXO, Mercado Pago, Bancolombia, SPEI, Effecty, Pago Efectivo, Match Pay, and Servipag.
     

How can I track my results?

On the platform, you have access to the Collections management panel, where you can track the status of overdue payments, as well as the collections handled by the Collection Agent, allowing you to forecast the amounts you will receive.

To access this information, log in to your account, go to the left-hand menu, and select Sales > Collections management.

There, you will find the following details:

  • Collection efficiency: shows the percentage of the expected amounts for the period that were actually paid.
  • Total installments paid: all installments paid during the period, including on-time payments and recovered overdue amounts.
  • Recovered amount: the amount recovered by the Collection Agent.
  • Payment tracking: displays details of a buyer’s on-time and overdue payments.

When you click on Payment details, a new tab will open with:

  • Main purchase information
  • Amounts paid on time, overdue, and pending (upcoming installments)
  • Buyer information

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Hotmart Collection Agent optional?

No. When you use the payment methods and tools integrated with the Collection Agent, the Producer automatically has Hotmart’s collections management in place.

Are there any costs associated?

There is no specific charge for the Collection Agent.

Can I customize the collection messages?

Not at this time. The flows are standardized and optimized to maximize recovery rates and protect the buyer experience.

Can the payment method be changed?

Yes. Buyers can settle outstanding amounts using credit card y PayPal. For Latin American countries, we also offer the following payment methods: Yape, Nequi, PSE, OXXO, Mercado Pago, Bancolombia, SPEI, Effecty, Pago Efectivo, Match Pay, and Servipag.

How does the AI assistant work?

Hotmart’s collections-focused AI that operates on WhatsApp to resolve buyer questions. Among its functions:

  • Identify the purchased product and overdue amounts
  • Explain how to pay or change due dates
  • Direct the buyer to the payment area
