When you purchase a digital product, it's natural to want to plan your study schedule to make the most of all the available content. On Hotmart, the length of time you can watch lessons or download materials depends on the settings defined by the course creator.
In this article, you'll learn how the different access periods work on the platform, how to find your access expiration date, and what to do if you need more time to complete your course.
How does the product access period work?
The access period varies from one product to another because the course creator defines the access rules.
In general, there are three main access models on the platform, each directly related to the product's payment method:
- One-time payment: In this model, you pay for the product only once (either in a single payment or in installments using a traditional credit card). Access may be granted for a fixed period (such as 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years) or indefinitely (as long as the product remains active on the platform).
- Subscription (Recurring payment): Your access remains active as long as your recurring payments (monthly, every two months, semiannually, or annually) are up to date. If the subscription is canceled or a payment fails to process, your access will automatically end at the conclusion of the paid billing period.
- Smart Installments: This payment option allows you to split the total course price into monthly payments charged directly to your credit card without using your full credit limit upfront. If any monthly installment fails to process, the system will temporarily suspend your access to the course until the payment issue is resolved.
Where can I find information about my access expiration?
You can check your course access period through the product's communication channels or directly from your buyer account.
The first opportunity to verify this information is on the checkout page before completing your purchase, where the access period is displayed near the product price.
If you've already completed your purchase, this information is usually included in the confirmation email sent by Hotmart once your payment is approved. Additionally, if your course has an expiration date, it is typically displayed on the lesson viewing page within the members area.
If your course is offered as a subscription, you can check its status and your next billing date by following these steps:
- Go to https://consumer.hotmart.com.
- From the left-hand menu, click My Purchases.
- Locate the course you want and click on it.
- Select Manage Subscription to view the exact date of your next renewal or the end date of your current subscription.
What happens when my access period ends?
Once the access period defined by the creator expires, the system automatically blocks access to the lessons and prevents you from downloading any attached files. If you try to access the course after the expiration date, the platform will display a message informing you that your access has ended.
If the product is a subscription and you choose to cancel it, your access will not end immediately. You'll continue to have access until your next scheduled billing date.
To regain access after expiration, regardless of the course model, you'll typically need to purchase the course again or request an extension from the creator.
How can I request more time to complete the course?
If your access period is about to expire and you need more time to finish your course, you should contact the course creator's support team directly.
To find the creator's support email:
- Go to https://consumer.hotmart.com.
- Sign in using the same email address you used to make the purchase.
- Click My Purchases.
- Select the desired product.
- Click Show details.
- Below the product name, you'll find the creator's support email address.
