What is Hotmart Ask and how do I set it up?

Knowing what your students think about your product is an important way to identify areas for improvement and strengthen your relationship with the people who purchased your content.

To help with this process, Hotmart offers Hotmart Ask, a free satisfaction survey tool that can be enabled for products distributed through Hotmart or on external pages.

With your customers’ evaluations, you can better understand their experience with your product and collect testimonials that may be useful for your business.

You can use Hotmart Ask in three ways:

  • If you already use Hotmart Club, you can enable a survey with questions previously created by Hotmart. This survey will be shown to students who consume your course content.
  • You can also create a survey to be displayed on an external page, such as a website, blog, or sales page. In this case, you can customize the questions, answer formats, and thank-you message.
  • If you sell an ebook or any other file, a survey previously created by Hotmart will appear for customers who access the Purchase Center at https://clonsumer.hotmart.com.

In this article, you’ll learn how each of these options works.

How to enable an evaluation survey inside Hotmart’s members area

If you use Hotmart Club, you can enable an evaluation survey to better understand your students’ experience with the course. This survey already includes questions predefined by Hotmart, such as “what score would you give the content presented?”, “what score would you give the teaching approach in the presentations?” and “what is the OVERALL SCORE for this course?”, for example.

The evaluation displayed inside Hotmart Club has 8 questions in total. The student answers using a scale from 1 to 5, and the last question is open-ended for comments about the course.

The results are available on the Hotmart Ask home screen, where you can track responses, view survey indicators, and export the data in CSV format.

To set up the survey in Hotmart Club, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Hotmart account at: https://app.hotmart.com.
  2. In the top-right menu, click Tools.
  3. Click Hotmart Ask.
  4. On the home screen, access the Evaluations of your courses tab.
  5. In this tab, you will see all courses registered on the platform and will be able to:
    • enable buyer evaluations;
    • allow evaluations to be displayed on your product page.
  6. To view survey responses, click View responses.
In this area, you will also find data such as:

Number of impressions: total number of times the survey was shown to your users, even if they did not click to start it.

Number of responses: total number of times your users answered at least one survey question.

Engagement number: percentage of people who viewed the survey and answered at least one question. This calculation considers the number of impressions and the number of responses.

Number of completed surveys: percentage of people who answered all survey questions.

Number of abandonments: percentage of people who started answering the survey but did not finish it.

  1. To export the responses, click Export Responses. The platform will generate a CSV file.
  2. To access the results of external surveys, click the Surveys and questionnaires for your external pages tab. In this tab, you will also be able to enable buyer evaluations.
  3. To create an external survey, click New Survey. You will be directed to the survey creation screen.

We explain this process in the section External survey: how to create a survey on an external page.

How to create a survey on an external page

The external survey is displayed outside Hotmart Club, on pages such as websites, blogs, or sales pages. The main difference with this option is the possibility of customizing the survey fields.

You can create your own questions and choose from different answer formats, such as a 1-to-10 scale, emoticon, short or long text, predefined answers, and more.

You can also define which website URL the survey will be displayed on. To do this, you need to install the tracking code, available in Ask, on the chosen pages. You can also configure how long the survey will remain active, which devices it will be displayed on, such as desktop, mobile, or tablet, and the survey language.

To set up an external survey, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Hotmart account at: https://app.hotmart.com.
  2. In the top-right menu, click Tools.
  3. Click Hotmart Ask.
  4. On the first screen, you will see two tabs: Evaluations of your courses and Surveys and questionnaires for your external pages.
  5. You can create a new external survey in two ways:
    • by clicking the Surveys and questionnaires for your external pages tab and then New Survey;
    • or by using the left-side menu, where you will see three icons: My Surveys, Create New Surveys, and Tracking code.
  6. Click Create New Surveys, the second icon, to create a new survey.
  7. In the Content tab, enter the survey name. This name will only be used for identification within the Hotmart platform and will not be published.
  8. In First Steps, create a call-to-action inviting the audience to start the survey. For example: “Could you share your opinion with us?”.
  9. Then, create another call-to-action to confirm that the user agreed to participate. For example: “Sure!”.
  10. In Questions, write the question and choose one of the available answer formats: 1-to-10 or 1-to-5 scale, emoticon, rating, short or long text, predefined answers, or email.

Except for the predefined answers format, all other options allow you to customize the text for low or high scores. For example, for a low score, you can use “Not very relevant”; for a high score, “Very relevant”.

See how each answer format works:

1-to-10 or 1-to-5 scale: the user chooses a number to indicate their answer, on a scale that goes from not very relevant to very relevant.

Emoticon: works like a scale, but uses emojis to represent the satisfaction level.

Rating: star rating. One star represents the minimum score and five stars represent the maximum score.

Short text / Long text: allows you to customize texts to represent the low score and the high score.

Predefined answers: allows you to create questions with answer options in text format.

Email: the user answers the questions and provides the email address where the answers will be sent to the Producer.

  1. To add a new question, click + Add another question.
  2. After adding all questions, use the Final considerations field to write a thank-you message for participating.
  3. While creating the questionnaire, check the preview in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  4. Then, click Next.
  5. In the Settings tab, choose the condition for the survey to be displayed. For example, if you want it to appear on a specific page, select the condition Display if the URL starts with, enter the page address, and click +.
  6. Choose the period during which the survey will remain active. You can define a specific period, with start and end date and time, or leave it active indefinitely.
  7. Select the devices where the survey will appear. The options are desktop, mobile, and/or tablet.
  8. Select the survey language.
  9. Click Next.
  10. In the Tracking Code tab, copy the script displayed.
  11. Paste the script into your sales pages, blog, or capture page. You will only be able to view the survey results after installing the code.
  12. To finish, click Complete.

If you leave the screen and want to check the code again, click the third icon in the menu located in the upper-left corner, called Tracking code.
