How do I register my documents on Hotmart?

If you want to sell digital products on Hotmart as a creator, affiliate, or cocreator, you'll need to verify your identity by registering your documents on the platform. This process helps protect your account, comply with legal requirements, and unlock the features you need to sell and receive payments.

In this article, you'll learn when documents are required, which documents are accepted for each account type, how the verification process works, and what to do if your documents are rejected.

What documents do I need to register?

The required documents vary depending on your Hotmart account type: Individual or Legal Entity.

Remember that the information you provide must match the information shown on the registered document. The registered documents must also belong to the same account holder as the bank account that will be used to receive sales payments.

Individual

If you have an Individual account, you'll need to submit a photo ID and complete a facial biometric verification.

You can use:

  • ID card;
  • Driver's license;
  • Residence permit;
  • Passport issued by your country of residence.

Your document must:

  • Be an original document (copies are not accepted);
  • Be valid and not expired;
  • Include a clear photo, full name, identification number, and date of birth;
  • Be in good condition;
  • Include both the front and back, when applicable.

Important: Digital identity documents are not accepted.

Legal Entity

If you have a Legal Entity account, the legal representative must complete a facial biometric verification and submit the following documents:

  • Photo ID of the legal representative (ID card, driver's license, residence permit, or passport);
  • Photo ID of the partners or administrators listed in the company's constitutive documents (ID card or driver's license);
  • Company Constitutive Document: Articles of Incorporation (or Bylaws and Incorporation Act), duly notarized or authenticated. The Articles of Incorporation must include the company's ownership structure (shareholding structure);
  • Tax Certificate, duly notarized or authenticated.


How do I submit and verify my documents?

The point at which you'll need to register your documents depends on your account verification flow.

Verification before your first sale

Hotmart is gradually rolling out a new verification process for some accounts.

With this flow, you can create your product as usual. However, it will only be approved for sale after your documents have been verified.

To complete the registration:

  1. Sign in to your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com .
  2. Enter your phone number to receive the verification code.
  3. Fill in the requested information. To verify your identity, the information provided at this stage must match the photo ID you'll submit.
  4. Complete the required fields to start creating your product. You'll be able to edit your product information after registering your documents.
  5. Return to the Home page and, in the pop-up prompting you to complete your information, click Get Started. If the pop-up doesn't appear, click your profile picture and select My Account.
  6. On the next screen, click Documents in the left-hand menu, then click Get Started.

The next steps depend on your account type: Individual or Legal Entity.

Registering documents for an Individual account
  1. Using your mobile phone, scan the QR code displayed on the screen and keep the page open on your computer.
  2. Allow access to your camera.
  3. Complete the facial biometric verification on your mobile phone.
  4. Take photos of the requested documents and confirm the submission.
Registering documents for a Legal Entity account
  1. Upload your Articles of Incorporation (or Bylaws and Incorporation Act) and Tax Certificate, then click Confirm.
  2. Enter the company's monthly revenue.
  3. Select the partner who will be responsible for the company's financial transactions. At a later stage, this person will need to complete the facial biometric verification. Once the documents have been approved, the account holder cannot be changed directly through the platform.
  4. Upload the photo IDs of at least four partners listed in the company's ownership structure, in addition to your own. If needed, you can save your progress and continue later.
  5. Using your mobile phone, scan the QR code displayed on the screen and keep the page open on your computer.
  6. Allow access to your camera.
  7. On your mobile phone, the partner responsible for the company's financial transactions must complete the facial biometric verification.
  8. Take a photo of the requested photo ID and confirm the submission.

After submission, your documents will be reviewed. In general, verification results for Individual accounts are available within 1 hour. For Legal Entity accounts, the review process may take up to 5 business days.

Once your documents have been approved, your product can proceed to the approval and publishing process.

Verification after your first sale

With this flow, you'll only be able to register your documents after your first sale has been confirmed.

Registering documents for an Individual account
  1. Sign in to your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com .
  2. Click your profile picture and select My Account.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click Documents, then click Get Started.
  4. Scan the QR code displayed on the screen using your mobile phone and keep the page open on your computer.
  5. Allow access to your camera.
  6. Complete the facial biometric verification and take photos of the requested documents.
  7. Enter your average monthly income (Individual) or your company's average monthly revenue (Legal Entity).
  8. Complete the submission.
Registering documents for a Legal Entity account
  1. Sign in to your Hotmart account at https://app.hotmart.com .
  2. Click your profile picture and select My Account.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click Documents, then click Get Started.
  4. Upload your Articles of Incorporation (or Bylaws and Incorporation Act) and Tax Certificate.
  5. Select the account administrator who will be responsible for the company's financial transactions. At a later stage, this person will need to complete the facial biometric verification. Once the documents have been approved, the account holder cannot be changed directly through the platform.
  6. Upload the photo IDs of the partners or administrators listed in the company's ownership structure.
  7. Scan the QR code displayed on the screen using your mobile phone and keep the page open on your computer.
  8. Allow access to your camera.
  9. On your mobile phone, the account administrator must complete the facial biometric verification.
  10. Take a photo of the requested photo ID and confirm the submission.

The review process may take up to 5 business days. Once your documents have been approved, you'll be able to register your bank account to receive payouts.


Recommendations before submitting your documents

To help avoid delays during the review process, we recommend that you:

  • Always use the original document (copies are not accepted).
  • Do not submit photos of photocopies, scanned documents, or screenshots.
  • Enter your name exactly as it appears on the document you'll be submitting.
  • Digital identity documents are not accepted.
  • Place the document on a flat surface before taking the photo.
  • Make sure all information on the document is clearly legible.
  • Submit each document separately.
  • If possible, remove the document from any plastic cover to avoid glare.

When completing the facial biometric verification, make sure to:

  • Show your entire face, centered in the frame.
  • Be in a well-lit environment.
  • Avoid having objects such as pictures or mirrors in the background.
  • Do not use filters or effects.
  • Do not wear sunglasses or other accessories that may interfere with facial recognition.

Why were my documents rejected?

The most common reasons are:

  • Blurry, shaky, or unreadable images.
  • Glare that makes the document difficult to read.
  • Photos that are too dark.
  • The document is cropped in the image.
  • The document is torn or damaged.
  • The document is inside a plastic cover that makes the information difficult to read.
  • The document photo is outdated.
  • The front and back photos are not from the same document.
  • The submitted documents are not accepted by Hotmart.
  • The information on the document doesn't match the information registered on the account.
  • The documents are invalid, expired, or contain irregularities.
  • A required document is missing.
  • The same document was submitted more than once.

If your documents are rejected, you'll receive an email explaining the reason for the rejection and instructions on how to submit them again.
 

What should I do if my documents are rejected?

If your documents aren't approved:

  1. Review the email sent by Hotmart to understand the reason for the rejection.
  2. Correct the necessary information or take new photos of your documents.
  3. Submit your documents again by following the instructions provided on the platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I register my documents yet?

If your account follows the verification after the first sale flow, the Documents option will only become available after your first sale has been confirmed.

If your account follows the verification before the first sale flow, document submission is part of the initial account setup process. However, if your information cannot be verified, you won't be able to proceed to the document submission step. In this case, make sure the information you entered is correct by going to Profile Picture > My Account > Personal Information.

When can I register my bank account?

This depends on your account's verification flow.

If your verification takes place before your first sale, you'll be able to register your bank account after your documents have been approved and once your sales flow allows it.

If your verification takes place after your first sale, you'll be able to register your bank account once your documents have been approved.

Can I resubmit my documents if they were rejected?

Yes. After correcting the issue described in the rejection email, you can submit your documents again directly from the platform by going to Profile Picture > My Account > Documents.

How long does document verification take?

The review time depends on your account's verification flow.

For Individual accounts that complete verification before the first sale, the review is usually completed within 1 hour. For Legal Entity accounts using the same flow, the review may take up to 5 business days.

If your account follows the verification after the first sale flow, the review process may take up to 5 business days, regardless of your account type.

How do I complete the TAX ID and VAT ID fields?

If you're asked to complete the TAX ID and VAT ID fields while registering your account, enter the tax identification number applicable in your country.

Some examples include:

  • Mexico: RFC
  • Argentina: CUIT
  • Chile: RUT
  • Colombia: NIT
  • Peru: RUC
  • Spain: NIF or CIF, as applicable
  • Other countries: Use the equivalent tax identification number issued in your country.

If your country doesn't use a VAT ID, you can leave this field blank, provided the platform allows it. If you're unsure which information to enter, consult your country's tax authority or contact our Support team.
