How do I configure a co-production for a product?
Co-production is a Hotmart feature that allows two or more people to participate in the creation, promotion, or management of a product and automatically receive a share of the sales generated. With this feature, you can define how commissions will be distributed among participants according to the role each person performs.
In this article, you’ll learn how to set up a co-production, what information must be defined when sending an invitation, and which rules apply to this type of partnership.
What should I know before setting up a co-production?
Before creating a co-production, keep the following rules in mind:
- There is no limit to the number of cocreators that can be linked to a product.
- Regardless of the number of cocreators, the main Producer remains responsible for the product from a legal, tax, and regulatory perspective.
- Only the main Producer can change the product and co-production settings.
- cocreators can access information related to the product according to the permissions granted to them, but they cannot modify its settings.
- The cocreator must have an active Hotmart account to receive an invitation.
❯ How do I configure a co-production?
To add a cocreator to your product:

Log in to your Hotmart account at
https://app.hotmart.com/tools.

In the side menu, click
Tools > Manage your business > Co-productions.

Select the desired product and click Continue.

Click Invite cocreator.

In the cocreator Email field,
enter the email address of the person you want
to invite.

In What will be the cocreator's role?,
select the role that best represents the person’s
participation in the project.

Define the Contract end date:
-
Set contract end date,
to define a specific end date for the
partnership; or
-
Eternal (there is no deadline to end the contract),
if the co-production does not have a
defined end date.

In Receive commissions from which sales?,
choose which sales will generate commissions
for the cocreator.

If you select Affiliate sales,
choose which affiliates will be considered when
calculating commissions.

Define the Commission Percentage
that will be assigned to the cocreator.

If necessary, enable the option
Would you like to set a specific commission percentage for Affiliate sales?
to configure a different percentage for affiliate-generated
sales.

Choose the Co-creation Model
that will apply to the partnership.

If you want the cocreator to continue receiving
commissions from recurring charges generated
during the contract period, even after the agreement
ends, enable the
Product with automatic sales recovery
option.

Read the Co-creation Terms of Use,
select the acceptance checkbox, and click
Continue to send the invitation.

❯ How do I resend an invitation or cancel a co-production?
If you want to resend an invitation or cancel a co-production,
follow these steps:

In the side menu, click
Tools > Manage your business > Co-productions.

Select the product and click Continue.

In the list of cocreators, locate the desired
cocreator and click the three-dot menu in the
Actions column.

To resend the invitation, select
Resend invitation.

To cancel the agreement, select
Cancel contract.
Changes made to an active co-production, including
termination requests, depend on the cocreator’s approval
before they can be completed.

Important information about co-production
When creating a co-production, keep the following in mind:
- The Producer who registered the product on Hotmart remains responsible for the product before buyers and competent authorities.
- Product revenue will be automatically distributed among participants according to the configured percentages.
- Revenue sharing can also apply to affiliate sales, depending on the settings defined in the invitation.
- For open-ended or still-active agreements, early termination of the co-production may require the approval of all parties involved, according to the terms accepted when the agreement was created.

The cocreator will only begin receiving revenue shares after accepting the invitation sent through the platform.
How do I manage co-productions as a cocreator?
If you have been invited to participate in a co-production, you can track all invitations received, view details of active partnerships, and respond to requests sent by the Producer directly from your Hotmart account.
❯ How do I view and respond to a co-production invitation?
To view the invitations you have received:
- Go to Products > My Products.
- Select I am a cocreator.
- Click Invitations received.
- Locate the desired product and click the three-dot menu.
- Select Co-production Information to view details such as:
- Responsible Producer;
- Direct sales commission;
- Commission rules;
- Co-production duration;
- Co-production model;
- Co-production Terms of Use.
- After reviewing the information, click the three-dot menu again and choose one of the following options:

Accept invite, to join the co-production;

Decline cocreation invitation, if you do not wish to participate.
When accepting the invitation, you must read the Co-production Terms of Use, check the acceptance box, and confirm your participation.
If you decline the invitation, the platform will ask you to confirm your decision before completing the action.

❯ How do I request the termination of a co-production?
If you participate in an active co-production and want to end it:
- Go to Products > My Products.
- Select I am a cocreator.
- Click Confirmed co-productions.
- Locate the desired product and click the three-dot menu.
- Select Request end of co-production.
- In the confirmation window, click Submit request.
After submission, the Producer will receive the request, and the co-production will only be terminated after they approve it.

❯ How do I approve or reject changes made by the Producer?
Some changes made by the Producer require the cocreator’s approval, such as modifications to commission rules, participating affiliates, or commission percentages.
To respond to these requests:
- Go to Products > My Products.
- Select I am a cocreator.
- Click Confirmed co-productions.
- Locate the desired product and click the three-dot menu.
- Select Change History.
- On the displayed screen, locate changes with the status Pending Approval.
- Click the three-dot menu in the Actions column.
- Choose one of the following options:

Accept;

Refuse;

Affiliates changed (to view the affiliates involved in the change).
After you respond, the request status will be updated automatically.

❯ How do I view the change history of a co-production?
The change history allows you to track all modifications made to the partnership over time.
To access it:
- Go to Products > My Products.
- Select I am a cocreator.
- Click Confirmed co-productions.
- Locate the desired product and click the three-dot menu.
- Select Change History.
On this screen, you can view information such as:
- Type of change made;
- Request date;
- Cocreator response date;
- User responsible for the change;
- Request status;
- Available actions for each record.
Important: A cocreator can only view invitations, approve requests, and participate in co-productions after completing the validation of their Hotmart account information.
